Sotto Voce® trumpet straight mute
The mute seems to work best if it is not placed too far into the bell. Otherwise, it can get a little bit stuffy feeling and the intonation may tend to be a tiny bit flat.
Try blowing warm, moist air into the bell before inserting the mute, and then push the mute in to a "medium" degree.
